The different model lines have different default features and are designed to appeal to different sections of the market. The SE class is considered the ‘basic’ model, although that term doesn’t do it justice! There’s nothing basic about any of Mercedes’ vehicles. The E-Class SE
A pleasure to behold, the SE sets the tone for the E-Class family: comfortable, luxurious, elegant. The first thing you will notice is the vehicle’s confident and domineering lines, establishing itself quickly as a car that deserves your attention. LED lights at the front and back, 17” alloy wheels, and twin-pipe exhaust quickly confirm your initial appraisal.
Step inside and the leather upholstery, leather-trimmed multi-function steering wheel and the automatic climate control mean that your comfort while driving is guaranteed. Small touches like heated exterior mirrors and rain-sensing wipers mean you can focus on appreciating the drive.
Multiple intelligent features guarantee an easy drive, too: Active Parking Assist aids parking, Direct Steering and low suspension make the car a pleasure to pilot; Collision Prevention Assist Plus and Attention Assist give you peace of mind for a safer drive. The estate version features automatic powered tailgate and a load securing kit to make sure all your luggage is safe and secure during transit. The AMG Night Edition
The next model line above the SE is the alluringly named AMG Night Edition. Equally impressive to the SE, this model has a few bolstered aspects - starting with bi-coloured 18” AMG alloy wheels in a five-spoke design, AMG bodystyling (featuring black trim strips and squared integrated tailpipes on the exhaust). With emphasis on sporty features, the AMG Night Edition also includes gloss black exterior mirror housings and beltline trim strips to really set the exterior off.
The interior is enhanced too: leather sport seats await the driver and passengers, dark aluminium trim add flair to the already elegant design, and the steering wheel has a flattened bottom section to make it just that bit more striking.
The estate features striking black roof rails for transporting equipment surplus to what can fit inside the vehicle. There are also two model lines we don’t stock at Vantage, but we’ve included some information about them below nonetheless:AMG E63
This model is described as “the top-of-the-range E-Class” in Mercedes’ literature: an accolade it definitely deserves. Every aspect of the other model lines have been bolstered: 19” alloy wheels with 10-spoke design for elegance; Ride Control sport suspension and AMG Speedshift MCT-7 sports transmission for optimised handling; Dinamica inserts on the interior for enhanced sophistication.
A memory package which remembers seating positions for all vehicle occupants and automatic climate control further hint at the car's luxury. This is a vehicle for the discerning driver.AMG E63-S
The crème de la crèmeː every aspect of the E-Class’ other model lines is refined to the maximum, and the sporty vibe is fully realised. Small touches like red brake calipers, LED illumination of door sill panels and aluminium gear shift paddles show that unrivalled attention to detail has been given to the development of this vehicle.
Other flashy features include electric roller blind for the rear window in the saloon, the AMG emblem embossed in the front headrests, silver seat belts and 'S Model' lettering on the rear of the vehicle to announce the car's prestige to the world.
It's good to know how your lease Mercedes will perform, so we've gathered performance figures for the Mercedes E-Class diesel engine family below. These are the official figures supplied by Mercedes, note that these figures may differ during actual usage! If you need a hand understanding any of the numbers, give us a call and we’ll be happy to help.E 220 d SE Saloon
Petrol engines were available on E-Class cars produced before the 2016 revamp, so we've left the following figures here for reference:E 250
And finally, a few miscellaneous bits and bobs that may be of interest when choosing your Mercedes lease deal.
The first is a review segment from Fifth Gear, although bear in mind this is of a previous incarnation of the car so some features will be different!
A trailer from Mercedes themselves, showcasing the new E-Class. This is great as it shows you exactly how they perceive the vehicle, and just how proud they are of it!
Vantage Leasing are proud to offer a range of Mercedes E-Class lease deals: it’s a fantastic car from a brand that has earned its prestige over its 90 year history.
All the information you need to make an informed decision whether an E-Class lease deal is the right choice for you can be found here, including the car’s history, what it’s like to drive, its practicality reliability and safety, a full run-down of features and specifications and more. If you have any other questions, feel free to fire them over and we’ll do our best to give you the info you need!
The ‘E’ in the name of Mercedes’ vehicles originally stood for Einspritzmotor, the striking German term for ‘fuel injection engine’), although it was not until 1993 that the company offered a unified range of E-Class models as we know them today.
The vehicle’s elegance and reputation make it popular for drivers who want a comfortable, reliable and impressive ride; it’s size and durability make it a common contender for taxis and emergency services (police or ambulance modifications are available directly from the factory, for example).
A revamp costing approximately a billion euros launched the fifth generation of the E-Class this year, meaning new models are a refreshing and refined re-imagining of a vehicle that has established itself fondly over four previous generations (also meaning that now is the perfect time to set up a Mercedes E-Class contract hire agreement!)
As you would expect with a Mercedes, the E-Class offers a comfortable, stylish and spacious drive. A strong driving position combines with the car’s confident behaviour on the road to create a pleasing drive. Electric seat adjustment further adds to the comfort, as does good amounts of head, leg and shoulder room.
The suspension is rated highly, with one reviewer noting how it is capable of “sponging away all manner of everyday lumps and bumps”. Estates’ suspension are singled out for special praise, too. This means that you don’t need to worry about an uncomfortable or jolting drive – although with a Merc this probably wasn’t a concern at the front of your mind anyway! The Mercedes E220d and E200d come with optional air suspension and this comes as standard on the E43 and E350d Mercedes models.
Quietness is a word that pops up in review after review: the cabin effectively keeps out sounds of the engine and wind, meaning a more relaxed atmosphere. There are some qualms with the stereo from particularly discerning drivers who say that it doesn’t provide quite enough umph, although for the non-finickity among you this won’t provide too much of a concern.
We often get asked about fuel economy by people setting up their Mercedes lease, and thankfully choosing an executive model doesn’t have to mean choosing a gas guzzler any more. The E 220 d SE Saloon engine is a good all rounder with stated consumption figures of 72.4mpg and 102g/km of Co2, leading to low road tax and benefit-in-kind tax costs. The consumption figures are better after the 2016 revamp: you’ll get around 10 miles extra per gallon, and Co2 emissions are down from 114g/km.
As you move upward through the range the engines become thirstier: the E 350 d AMG Line Saloon, for example, only manages 51.4mpg and puts out 144g/km of Co2. This is still less of a drain than pre-revamp models where you were looking at 28.8mpg with emissions of 230g/km on the thirstiest model.
Depending on how strong your environmental conscience is, you will be able to lease a Mercedes within the range that sits in line with your preferences.
Again, as you’d expect with a Mercedes, the E-Class comes with some fantastic equipment as standard. The model’s recent facelift means that the canvas to be built upon when choosing extras is slicker than ever.
All models have the following luxurious equipment as standard: leather seats (standard in the SE though the AMG line models get half leather), climate control, and a media center containing Bluetooth and a DAB digital radio (comes complete with the well-regarded COMAND infotainment system for the E350, optonal on all other Mercedes models). Satnav comes as a standard but for something better there is the Comand satnav system which is optional.
The luxury and comfort don’t have to stop with the end of the standard features list, however. An extensive list of optional extras including privacy glass, a 360 degree camera, a tow bar and various interesting colour options mean that we can advise you on getting the Mercedes lease deal you want, whatever your tastes and preferences.
The build quality of all models is worth noting: small touches from sturdy, responsive buttons, an analogue clock in the centre console, and slick silver highlights contribute to the luxury you rightly demand from a Mercedes lease. If you want to boost the luxury even higher, the AMG line upgrade is for you; it includes seat and steering wheel finishes and aluminium pedals.
Mercedes performed well in the Auto Express Driver Power 2015 satisfaction survey (11th), coming ahead of rivals Audi (13th) and BMW (14th).
The E-Class’ engineering integrity is congratulated by reviewers, who note that although the model might not be as sporty or flash looking than some competing models in the class, it is build on a solid and reliable foundation from a world-trusted brand. This plays strongly in the vehicles favour and means that it is a reliable choice.
A multitude of well thought out accessories demonstrate Mercedes’ dedication to optimised practicality, both for the driver and passengers. Some examples of what’s available:
The vehicle’s generous interior size is noted frequently too – this isn’t a car that’s trying to cram too many features (and people!) into too small a space. Tall drivers and passengers will have no problem staying comfortable for the duration of the journey.
The E-Class scored 5 stars in the Euro NCAP safety test, with 86% for adult occupants, 77% for child occupants, 59% for pedestrians, and 86% for safety assist.
The PRE SAFE’ system senses when an accident is about to take place and prepares the restraint and protection systems in preparation for the impact, reducing risk of injury.
Attention Assist is another feature to put your mind at rest: by measuring a large range of your features in real-time, it creates a profile for each driver and detects when they are becoming tired. If this happens, it automatically alerts you to take a rest.
Backward facing child seats sold by Mercedes (see extras above) are detected by the front passenger seat, disabling the airbag for that seat. Although it is important to note that with non-Mercedes products the airbag will not be disabled.
A slick and well designed car that performs exactly as you would expect from such a famous and established brand. While not as flashy as some competitors, it is renowned as a vehicle that does the job is designed for, and does it well. A great choice whether you’re looking for a Mercedes business lease or a personal contract hire agreement.
An impressive raft of standard features provide an appealing canvas for you to build on with optional features to suit your needs. Discerning drivers among you can opt for privacy glass; outdoorsmen can have a tow bar installed. People in between can choose from a long and comprehensive list.
Safety and reliability are key themes with Mercedes cars, and the E-Class doesn’t fall short in this regard. The car will treat you well, provide you with a comfortable and inviting experience, and be a pleasure to drive.
